My stupid ISP prompted me to download IE8 (I have a HP DV7t) and I uninstalled it very quickly after finding out how unstable it is. However, I think the uninstall corrupted IE7 but I'm hoping I can repair the problem, rather than do a reinstall.

I ran a SFC and these appear to be the corrupted files:

Appears that windows sidebar files are the problem, but I'm clueless when it comes to doing the repair as suggested by Microsoft in : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Can anyone help me out???

So the problems comes from C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\settings.ini right?

I say - just delete the file. I just did and nothing happened, my sidebar start with it's usual settings. I think this file contain the default sidebar config and once you customize it the file isn't used. Here is the content of my settings.ini:
I don't have any of these gadgets installed ;)

To delete settings.ini your sidebar will have to be closed and you'll have to take ownership of the file. The method from the link doesn't work for me, I did it using the security options(rightclick->properties->security). Oh, if you want to - make a backup of the file first.
