Costco refurbished HP/Compaq

Hey Guys,

Costco offers some really good deals on refurbished laptops which comes with the original factory 1 year warranty AND costco 6 month return policy. I was wondering when these laptops are refurbished do they replace the lid cover or the base if they have scratches on them? For e.g if you buy refurbed phone from cingular, it looks brand new as the swap out the external shell with a brand new one. Is this the case with Costco refurbed laptops? or is there a chance that the laptop may have scratches, finger prints on the screen that dont come off etc?

People who have purchased one of these what are your thoughts? do the laptops look brand new?

Depends. Refurbished means different things to different companies. That being said, Costco is usually a good company, and they have a good return policy, as well as not wanting to ship products people will be unhappy with. Email them and ask them, I'm sure they'll tell you, but I'd place my bets on it looking almost new, maybe with a few scratches or scuffs on areas that aren't vital, but nothing functionally wrong.

 

Pitabred thats what I am thinking too. But I would like someone who has experience buying one of these laptops to also give their views.
