I ordered dv6700t a week ago using $400 coupon and is still in production stage, and now I see $500 coupon. I'm thinking of canceling my order and re-ordering with the new coupon. Basically, I can get the new order in similar configuration as first, but with TV tuner at about the same price. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth the effort. Decisions, decisions.

try calling them and telling them you found this other coupon and if they dont apply and give u $100 back then you'll cancel your order. See what happens, maybe they'll just give it to you.

Same thing here...I ordered with the $400 coupon...

When I contacted them, they pretty much dared me to cancel.

Yeah, they may actually credit you rather than lose the sale. In fact, I was returning the Dv5z I had ordered a couple weeks ago. One guy offered my $80 to keep it. Another offered to give me that plus some other in-house deal. But the laptop didn't live up to my expectations (no Hybrid CrossfireX? no PowerXpress? What?!), so I didn't care about all the money they wanted to give me to keep it.

Anyway, if they would do that, it's not a long stretch to call them on the current coupon deal.

Then again, if you have the credit limit or another card, simply buy a new one with the new coupon and return the other to HP when it comes.

If you are going to use the same credit card, give your bank a heads up that you are going to make another large purchase so that their fraud department doesn't block the transaction on you.

I'll call and see, but my past experience a year and half ago for one component addition was the same as Superpenguin. Return and re-order. My reaction to them at that time was, "You want me to return and re-order for this?" It didn't make sense to me but it's how they do business I guess. Would love the credit :), but would be happy if they'll just change the coupon code on the order and send the tv tuner.

I had a similar experience when I ordered my machine. They should give you the $100 credit on the same machine as long as you are within the 21 day return period. If you want to make any changes in configuration you will need to reorder and you will have to pay separately in full for the new machine. They won’t allow you to credit what you have paid toward the new order. 2.0 is right, if you want to take advantage of the $500.00 coupon and can afford it, your best bet is to make another separate order. When you receive the first machine you can call HP and get a Return Authorization Number and ship it back at HP’s expense. Once they receive it at the factory your money will be refunded to your credit or bank card.

Canyon, thanks for the info. If they rather I cancel and re-order for an external component like the tv tuner, so be it. Credit would be fine, but otherwise, I'll cancel and re-order and ship the first order back when I receive it.

In my past experience with HP they stink. When you reorder from them you will now be charged for two notebooks. On the original notebook you will get a credit back in probably two weeks and I hope your credit card cycle does not come up or you will be on the hook for two notebooks in that cycle. HP is the only major manufacture that charges your credit card when the order is placed. Most mfg. charge your card when then order is shipped. I returned two notebooks to HP and they blacklisted me and now cannot order any products from hp online not even ink. This goes back three years and if I try and order today (anything) it comes back cannot process your order.
    GOOD LUCK with HP.

If you are expecting a cashback from sites like fatwallet, then I suggest you cancel and place a fresh order.

Any adjustments made to the order would cancel your cash back.... (which would around 30 to 40$).

    (Adjustments ==> u getting 100$ credit)

Thanks, almost forgot about fatwallet. Cashback was $27.09 for my order.

Basically, by maxing out to $1,299 for $400 coupon or $1,399 for $500 coupon, difference was about $30 more than my original almost minimum config order. So for $30 or so, I got the highest cpu, better graphics card, fingerprint reader and tv tuner. This really is a good deal and the reason not going with the new dv5t.

No problem with credit back, used hp card with 90 day no payment/financing. Now, as far as being blacklisted, since this will be my second online purchase and second return in 18 months, I guess I'll be on it. So be it. This is my 6th hp laptop in about 5 years, 2nd purchase in 3 months and 3rd in 18 months, along with hp desktops and printers. Brand loyalty? That's me; but if I am blacklisted, Hello Dell, Gateway and host of others. If they can't work it out with me, I will try to sell it to co-workers before returning it, since this is such a great deal.

They still have not offered me the $100 credit. They want me to confirm the cancellation of the order so that I can send it back when I recieve it...

Are you saying HP wouldn't refund you the $100.00 on the same machine (without requesting any changes in the configuration). They said you would have to reorder a new one with the $500.00 coupon and then return the first? And you are within the 21 day return period? If this is the case try calling again and speak to another rep and see what they say.
