hey i cracked my laptop screen,

I was wondering if anyone here knows if I can simply take the screen off any HP DV6000 laptop and it will work with my computer. They all look the same. It may be cheaper to do this than repair it and obviously than buy a new one.

    my model number is:

    HP DV6565

    15.4" screen

.. or if not if theres a way to find out which models would be compatible.

    thanks in advance.

It is possible to replace the screen, and possibly to a higher resolution as well. there was a thread a few days ago on someone replacing the screen on a 8710w notebook.

Yes, it is possible to buy another screen and install if on your laptop. In this following thread they talk about buying and installing a better LCD screen on their dv9xxx laptops. I think they have the website they bought them from and everything.

Also, here is the guide to taking your laptop apart and disconnecting the LCD screen for when you buy the new one. From the link below, you will need to select the model you have, then hit the Manual Hyperlink on the next page. That will bring up the complete manual on your laptop, including how to take it apart completely.

    Hope this helps!
