I've just noticed crackling coming from the left speaker of my dv6500. It only occurs when sound is playing and is only noticeable with voices (like watching nytimes or cnn.com videos) or sound effects with bass (like the windows device connect sound). It's a vibration/crackling sound. It gets worse at higher volumes but still occurs at mid-volume range.

Do the speakers that come with the 6500 just stink or should I send the computer back to HP for repairs? If they're just going another set of crummy speakers in, I wouldn't want to waste the time.

    Thanks!

If its not both speakers then I say send it back. Laptop speakers are not going to blow you away, but you should be able to listen to them without crackling and if it is just one speaker, then I would say it's a speaker hardware issue and should be replaced.

I agree. I own a dv6233se and my speakers don't crackle, even on the highest volume. Send it back for repair. It's probably a free repair.

Ok, thank you. I'm sending it in for free repair.

One question about the free repair. The support agent said I shouldn't send in the AC adapter but I "can" send in the battery.

Does this mean I have to send in the battery? I figure it's one more thing to be lost... but I wouldn't want to not send in and then them require it for the repair.
