Ok this is just odd to me. I got 4GB (2x 2GB) of ram tonight, shoot $65.00 bucks why not? Along with a Rosewill Expresscard to ESATA (Sil3132) card.

First when I installed the ram (no Esata card), I would get the windows loading screen, then screen would go blank (backlight would stay on, but no desktop). Then I remembered that I needed to upgrade the bios (been using good ol F.16). So I moved up to F.29, now able to get into windows. Install the card drivers, and now my ESATA card is working like a champ.

Untill I reboot, if I leave the card in, same thing that happened earlier with just the lcd backlight staying on, and not booting all the way into windows happens. But it will boot without the card, and I can plug it in after. So I put back in my 1x1GB sticks, and presto works no problem with the card plugged in at boot.

I am running MemTest86 right now, but I doubt that will come back with anything.

So anyone have any idea what could be causing this? This is just crazy to me.

    Almost forgot. Laptop is a CTO DV6000t, T5500 C2D, Go7400

I wrote this while my brain was already fried trying different stuff.

Here is what I know what now. MemTest 86+ came back clean.

Is there a Bios setting or something I should be looking at? I dual boot this system with Unbuntu, and oddly enough the same thing happens.

have you tried a 2+1=3gb setup?

    Do you have SP1?

It seems as windows is having issues loading the RAM

That is going to be my next test. Actually my next test, is putting my other HD with a completly different OS in, and see what happens.

At first I thought it was a windows issue too, but it also not letting me in my Linux install is troubling.

Then my next question would be. What would be better? 3GB of ram, or 2gb Dual Channel?

Ok 3GB does not work either. It seems like anything over 2GB with the card in at boot, the system just hangs.
