Hello everyone -
I ordered my customized nc6000 on July 23rd. Long story short, it took another week before the order was finalized, and that was not a good week for HP in my view. So it's finally ordered, the status page says it should ship 8/5, even though the detail says about half the parts are backordered. I think that's odd but figure they know better than I. No laptop yet and now the status page says it will ship 8/10, still with half the parts being backordered. Against all my better judgement, I call and get a girl who puts me on hold forever then comes back to say she has to check with the warehouse since she doesn't know where the parts are; can she call me back? Let me just say I've been down THAT road with HP before. Needless to say, no call back. PLEASE - is it just me or do they treat everyone this way?!!! I really want this computer, but let's face it - I'd have had the Dell last week.

p.s. thanks for letting me vent...

Well, I don't how many of these are specific to the nc6000 but here's what it says:
Windows Home
nc6000 hardware kit
cpu -725 P-M
512 mb RAM
Multibay 24xDVD/CDRW drive
Keyboard
Battery
56 K modem
hmmm. looks like the only thing they MIGHT have is the screen!

What parts are on backorder? Makes me nervous, since I plan on ordering a zx5000 on Sunday. and I hate to wait...

Oh, trust me- you're not alone. Sure, people complain about ALL the big name companies- but Dell is a MILLION times more easy to deal with. When I ordered from them last year, I ordered the night before their offers changed. I called them in the morning (I wasn't on hold for 5 minutes), hoping to cancel my order- it was $100 cheaper with the new offer- and they told me they couldn't cancel it- because it was already shipping. But they credited my account for the $100, anyway![]
Now... with HP? ALL I WANTED TO KNOW- was if my order had shipped(it's est. ship date had passed w/o explanation). I called the 800 number, sat on hold for 30 minutes, and gave up. Called the next morning, sat on hold for another 30 minutes, and gave up again. Called the 800 number again that afternoon- was delighted when they told me the wait time was under 2 minutes- even though it took 10- but crushed when the idiot who picked up the line immediately hung up on me.[!] So I called back- now the wait time was "over 6 minutes"- which ended up being 35 (of HELLISH musak, I should add) before getting through to "Brian"- one of the brilliant members of HP's sales staff.
Me: "My order was supposed to ship on Monday- but I haven't gotten an email telling me it has. Can you check for me?"
Brian: "It hasn't shipped. You should get an email notifying you that it's shipped- or if it's going to be late, you'll get an email telling you that".
Me: "Isn't it ALREADY late?"
Brian: "You should get an email. Oh, I see you didn't purchase an extended warranty or a protective carrying case- I can offer you a good deal..."
Me: "ARGGGH!!!" *crash* (don't worry- the phone survived[])
So yeah- HP sucks. But I knew that going into this- and I really am pleased with my R3000T (which finally did arrive). I didn't buy HP for the quality of service, anyway. And- if I ever have to call HP again (*knock on wood*), I'm getting a prescription for an antidepressant first!

amen sister!
I unfortunately assumed HP would be at the top of the heap when it came to customer service. It helps to know that I am not the only one to deal with this. All I can say is if I don't get some straight answers today I am going to have to open a giant can o' whup-ass on somebody!! It ain't right!

OH- I forgot to mention... I only started calling them (which I knew to be a hassle from my experiences with them at work) after THREE emails went completely unanswered. Well- I DID get the form reply: "We take your concerns very seriously and one of our staff will reply within 48 hours". Thank goodness I wasn't holding my breath![:I]

I sent an email to the CEO yesterday and got a form message back saying someone would look into yet. Of course, nothing from them yet. It's now been almost two weeks since I ordered the darn thing. I'm giving them a couple more hours this morning then I'm back on the phone. This is ridiculous.
