I plan to custom order a DV1000 and would like some input:
1) Is it worth the $50 to go from 1.6 to 1.7 processor? and
2) Are there any other advantages of a DVD writer over a CD R/W
besides video?
Thanks for the help.

1. for 50 bucks, yes its worth it. (my opinion)
2. If you plan on burning DVDs then it may be worth it. Actually its probably only worth it if you plan on burning DVDs on the go. If not, save some money and get an external USB DVD writer. Not only will you save money, but you'll also get a much faster drive. -
1) Depends on what you're doing. I would upgrade personally.
2) No. Especially when you can get an External Firewire 16X Dual layer burner for less.

You'll get more of a performance boost by upgrading to a faster hard drive than the CPU.
