    Custom dv6 outside the US?

    I'd like to get a dv6, but I need to upgrade the processor, HDD, and a few other things. However, unless I order it to the US from the US site, I can't customize it. Any way to customize a laptop for worldwide orders? Specifically Canada.

    As a fellow Canadian I can let you know that there are a few options... but the most ideal situation would be to order a DV6 from the HP US website, get it shipped to a nearby warehouse close to the border (US Side), cross border, and pick it up.

    The other 2 main options are :

    1) Buy a pre-made DV6 here in Canada (Newegg Canada has some great ones especially if you get refurbs)

    2) Buy from HP US and use a parcel forwarding service like shipito to get it across the border for you. There will be an extra fee though.

    That's pretty much all there is man. Canadians get the shaft when it comes to laptop purchases. Last summer the Dv6t cost $800 in the US and was $1300 at Canadian retailers....... you just gotta watch out for super good deals (or know am American). Best of luck.

    Thanks man. Unfortunately, I can't go get it from the states, nor can I justify spending a minimum of $100 on shipping it from the states to Canada, at least not after everything negative I've read about the laptop. If I have a problem, it'll have to jump through even more hoops than normal. Newegg doesn't even have the 7000, nor does anywhere else(futureshop, best buy, etc.) have the 7000, in a configuration I would like. So, I'm just going to say screw HP. Now, to find another laptop...

    Ah, I did not realize you were specifically looking for the new 7000 series. They are out in Canada you just really need to look for them.

    There are the Canadian models : dv6-7050ca / dv6-7095ca / dv6-7015ca / dv6-7078ca / dv6-7073ca

    Amazon.ca has some of them , HOWEVER apperantly they are only selling prebuilt models with the GT 630m here (LAME)

    In terms of other dealers... if you want Sager/Clevo look at Reflex Notebook. I had a friend buy from there and he enjoyed the experience. Newegg/Tiger Direct/ NCIX / Canada Computers for everything else. There are some good deals out there.
