How do I add custom resolutions to my HP Envy 15 with an ATI Radeon 5830 card? I don´t want it for the laptop screen, but I want to be able to use an 1366x768 resolution when I connect it to my HD Ready TV.

I´ve tried to use Powerstrip but the button for Advanced Timing Options is grayed out for me.

Connect to external display. Driver will detect it.

Then go to Desktop properties in catalyst control panel. Make sure you are in advanced mode. Then pick the resolution you want.

Though it will look a lot better in the native resolution of your HDTV if it's HDMI.

Well, the problem is that I want to add a resolution that´s not available.

If I try to use the 1280x720 resolution through the HDMI-port, it´s not displayed right. The PC picture gets stretched beyond the TV´s picture´s borders.

Ok, I see what you're looking for. Here's how to do it:

Add a line to one of the DALNonStandardModesBCD lines within the following path.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{28EB637D-0B05-40E2-9B10-67836FF468A5}\0000]

(The big number letter dash combo at the end before the \0000 is random and based on your system, but you should be able to find yours)

So edit the DALNonStandardModesBCD1 entry to look like the following example which adds 1366x768 at 60hz. It's in binary so you just need to add the numbers in.

    07,20,04,80,00,00,00,60,
    07,20,04,80,00,00,00,75,
    07,20,04,80,00,00,00,85,
    07,20,05,76,00,00,00,00,
    08,48,04,80,00,00,00,60,
    08,48,04,80,00,00,00,75,
    08,48,04,80,00,00,00,85,
    12,80,07,20,00,00,00,60,
    13,66,07,68,00,00,00,60

    Reboot to take effect.

Thanks, I got it working now. If I connect it through the TV´s RGB port with HDMI>DVI and DVI-RGB adapters, it works.

Its annoying that I can´t get it working with a regular HDMI-cable.

When I google about it, people are talking about image scaling options in Catalyst Control Center, but I can´t find such options on my computer.
