    Hi,

I just recently ordered a new CQ50Z Compaq Presario about 2 weeks ago (ordered on July 23rd). The order came with a free printer, which shipped immediately and arrived on July 31st. The estimated build-date was August 3rd and I selected the standard 5-7 day shipping. I am getting concerned because I am leaving to go back to school next Tuesday (I live in California, go to school in Alabama) and the order has yet to be shipped or show any sign of being done with production. All HP has sent me lately is an e-mail with their weekly deals. Should I be looking for a way to ship it to myself once I move back? Or is HP's order status page very slow to update?

    Any feedback helps. Thank you.

The last time I sent my notebook in for a repair I actually received the notebook hours before I even got a Shipping Notification from HP. If you have a fedex tracking number I would recommend checking the shipping status from the fedex website.

Unfortunately, with my experience HP is always on top of keeping the order statuses reasonably updated. As for tracking numbers those are ALWAYS added the same day. That is from experience with my purchases.

I would call up HP and request the information directly. It's always possible for a slip-up.

The estimated build date on mine is Aug 7th, and I'm suddenly having doubts about it shipping on time. Looking at the current buildout on the site if ordered today, the date has been pushed back to Sept 4th. This tells me that parts are on backorder for the CQ50Z, which does not bode well.

Looking back, I probably should have ordered the DV5Z, as I likely would have it already..........

I really hope back-order on parts is not the case, since I really need this computer for school and I don't have a lot of money lying around to have it shipped across the US. I'm hesitant to call them due to the ongoing complaints of HP's over the phone customer service. But if it doesn't ship today, I guess I'll give them a call.
