    Great forum :)
I am new here & wish to buy a new customized laptop from HP.com.
Will they be able to sell one with no Operating System?
I have a licensed copy of MS Windows XP Pro that i would like to use.
    Thanks in advance.

More than likely the answer is no, although you can always give them a call to see what they say. Other than that, you cannot get XP on any of the home systems, but the small business/large business systems come with XP Pro (incl. in the price) or with FreeDOS (with $10 taken off the price) so, if you really wanted to use your own copy of XP Pro, you could knock $10 off the cost of a business HP by configuring it with FreeDOS, and then do a clean install with your own copy of XP Pro. However, I have no idea (since I'm thinking off the top of my head here), whether you would be able to get the necessary support from HP for XP Pro, including any required drivers.

Yes you have to get an OS with the laptop, HP doesn't sell their laptops without Operating Systems. Also, if you intend on buying an HP, make sure you go and check to see that all the XP drivers are available for the model you are looking at. Some of the newer models don't offer all the drivers for XP because HP has moved completely to Vista on their personal laptop models. They do still sell XP on all their business laptops because they know people in the business world don't want to use Vista until it's as stable as XP is now, so you are more likely to find a business model that is completely compatible with XP than their newer personal laptops.
