My DV6700T was shipped on July 9th. On July 10th is showed it had arrived in Alaska and gave me the estimated arrival date of July 14th. Later that night, I got an email saying there was an clearance delay.
I've never had anything shipped to me internationally, so customs is something new for me, and I have read stories of people's orders getting stuck in Alaska due to clearance delays. I would like to know, for anyone who experienced a clearance delay, how long did it take to get resolved?
I'm not asking who to contact, or what to do. I'm just curious to see how long it took for other's clearance issues to be resolved.

why dont u call hp!

I just want to know if anyone else has experienced a clearance delay with their order, and if so, how long it took to get clearance. I've never dealt with an international order before, so I don't know whether clearance delays are standard procedure or not. -
Call the carrier and they will direct you to the appropriate authorities.

Anyway, to answer your question, I had a laptop ordered from HP back in September. It also went through a customs delay, but it was only for a couple of days. I don't know why it happened, but maybe they were doing random searches to verify that products are what the shipper claims they are. It's nothing to worry about. I also ordered a Dv5z this last week and it is also in a customs delay over this weekend, but it still shows my estimated date of delivery of tomorrow morning. I don't think FedEx updates the shipping status on the weekends, so it might have cleared, you just haven't seen it reflected in the status yet. Check tomorrow and see if it has changed.
Much luck to you, my friend! I'm sure you'll be enjoyin' your laptop soon! -
The last update I have is from July 10th at 8:01PM when it entered clearance delay, but it still has the estimated delivery date of Monday July 14th before 10:30AM. Here's to our laptops arriving tomorrow! My fingers are crossed. -

I got a call from an HP rep. just a moment ago. I did on of those post-call surveys the HP customer service reps tell you about and it asked if I needed a call back. I said yes (not expecting one), that was only about an hour ago. She said she has received about three calls so far about the shipment stuck in Alaska. I'm assuming I was speaking with a rep in America. She was so nice and listened to what I had to say and answered my questions. She said the matter should take at the max three days (I should have asked whether she meant from now, or from Thursday when it entered clearance delay). She said she got some information to her FedEx contact, who is in her building, she says, and will be making calls back as soon as she hears anything. She also offered me a $25 refund in addition to the $39 refund of my two day shipping charge, which I gladly accepted, and also a direct number where I can contact her. I am glad I stll had some faith in HP, as this phone call has definitely saved my consumer relationship with HP.
I know what you mean about being impatient. I broke my old laptop (a Compaq M2000) about a year and a half ago, and I was finally able to save up for a new one, and now I just want it. I'm going to try and relax and remember patience is a virtue. It's just, today would have been so perfect, I have today off, and I could have just tinkered with it. I'll post again as soon as I have any new info. -
Excellent! Sounds like you got a good deal there with the refunds and stuff. I sure hope the status changes. It would be nice if FedEx would upgrade the shipping since it has been sittin' pretty in Alaska...

I have read some forums that dealt with clearance delays in the past and I one mentioned something about FedEx having them overnighted once they were released. I'm not sure if that will be the case with our shipments or not. It would be nice though. I suppose, so long as I get it by Friday, which was the original delivery date, I will be happy. Not as happy as I would have been had it arrived today, but happy enough. -
My laptop shipped the same (7-9)and everything as both of yours and entered the same customs hold(7-10) as yours, I saw this discussion and decided to call fedex myself. I spoke to a polite gentleman who told me that customs had released my comp but fedex had yet to release it, and that i would need to call the international shipping department during their buisness hours (8-5) to find out what the hold up is. But he did shed some light on the situation by telling me that once the package boards a plane it will be here next day, i.e. ; boards tonight it will be at my home tomorrow, or so he says. Good luck to both of you on your new comp's like one of you mine is the dv5z and i'm stoked.

The same thing happened to me, i orded the tx2500z from HP, on July 2nd, And it shipped out on the 9th, and on the 10th it showed that it was stuck on clearance delay, and it was also soposed to be here in 2 business days, from the begining it said it was soposed to be here on the 14th, and it still said that last night, and it didnt come yesterday, and its still not here today and its about 10:40am. I dont know the number to call HP, or which one rather because it gives me a few online. And i would also like to take that survey. and get a call back, but i dont know where you took it at lol. They really should have everything ready to go so it could pass clearance to get here on time. I mean i paid for it to be here, and its not. I just want it already, but from what i read it looks like ill be waiting with the rest of yours. Now, did you get yours today? or not yet? -
The number I called was HP's Customer Care 1-888-999-4747. Be aware ahead of time, more than likely, whomever you talk to will not be of much help, don't bother getting in a dispute with them, in fact, try to make the call as short as possible, that way you can get straight to the survey. I answered the questions honestly, so they were mostly low scores, I gave my name and number for a call back, and I had one within the hour. I have been refunded the $39 I paid for second day shipping and also an additional $25 just because of the hassle.
The FedEx tracing number doesn't even show an estimated date of delivery now, so we will just have to wait it out. Maybe if enough of us complain to HP, they will think to speed up the process. I mean, there are 700 computers just sitting there. I wonder what the other customers are thinking? -
My laptop has cleared customs in Alaska, so I'm betting yours are, too. When I spoke to HP, they said that we should have them by week's end - possibly Thursday. So, HP messed up somehow, but we'll get them soon. Yay!

It's funny because I ordered another laptop like a week later (for my wife) and it will be delivered tomorrow. It wasn't held in Alaska with all those other ones. It cleared the same day and shipped to Utah while the other one was still stuck in Alaska. So, the one we ordered a week later we'll receive earlier. Go figure.
-
I called HP to confirm, I wasn't given any information, so I called FedEx. It is true. FedEx received the paperwork at 9:45 this morning. Now, it just depends on how long it takes customs to release all 700 computers. We should be receiving them tomorrow, if that are released today, or Thursday if they are released tomorrow. Our tracking information should be updated today to let us know where our orders are.
Ah... a sigh of relief, finally.
I would like to know from everyone when you receive your shipment. -
Has you called HP to see about getting any compensation for the delay?
I got another $100 back today from a compliant I filed last week when I was told FedEx doesn't deliver on Mondays (I was told by several HP customer service reps). The woman I spoke to told me the reps didn't have answers for me and made something up, and thought I should be compensated. So far, I have gotten back $164. We need to let companies know they can't just jerk customers about, and if they do, there will be consequences. Consumers have more power than corporations would like us to believe. Without us, they are nothing,
You may not have gone through the ordeal I have, being told lie after lie by each customer service rep, but you order was delayed, just as mine. I read that at the very least, they tend to offer a $50 HP coupon. It's better than nothing. -
I would like it if they would offer me something, but thus far they have not. It's okay, though. I don't really care if they give me something or not. I'm too easy-going to care. As long as it gets here in a reasonable amount of time, I'm happy.
Now if it is damaged, however, that is a different story. -

My notebook was released from customs at 12:47PM. There isn't an estimated arrival time yet though. At least it was released.
-
Mine was 9:17AM.
-
.
-
Nope, no word on estimated delivery. I'm not sure it has left Alaska yet; perhaps just cleared customs. But I suppose we'll see. They tend to scan parcels sometime in the night at transition points.
-
-
Yep, same here. I'm not sure if it will actually get delivered today, but it is nice to know that it is finally here.
-
Well, it was delivered about 15 minutes ago. I'm proceeding to clean it up and run some of my own benchmarks and see if I can do anything about this Hybrid stuff.
-
-
Yes, as I said before your post, I had received it already. I have to say that I'm not overly impressed. It's not a bad machine; it's just not that much better than what I have - at least, not enough to justify the difference in price in upgrading. So, despite playing around with it and liking the new case style, keyboard, etc, I will probably return it and wait for some other new laptops just before schools starts in the fall.
The only way to get Hybrid graphics to work, by the way, is to hack the BIOS. However, getting my hands on a good Phoenix BIOS hacker (that is up to date) is difficult. And it's not worth voiding my warranty just to attempt it. -
Are you talking about not liking the dv5z? I have heard they are really shiny. Too shiny... -
Yeah, I was talkin' about the Dv5z. I messed around with it a lot and did some benchmarks. It was a decent performing machine, but not enough of a step up from my current machine to warrant the cost. I had really been hopin' it would have Hybrid CrossfireX, but HP crippled it. So, I RMA'd it and will just wait until later to find one that will support the HCX.
