It should. The TX2 supports it, but until someone tests it I can't say with absolute certainty.

according to hp tech support, they say that it does not support it. My guess is that tech support doesn't support it, not the actual computer itself... i want to buy some ram for it but idk if it will work or not, and i don't want to buy somthing that is bottlenecking the computer.

I'd guess the same as you did. I'd give 99% odds that DDR2-667 will work. I'd also bet that not all brands of memory will work, so stick with the better ones. Normally I recommend Crucial but their DDR2 memory is awfully expensive. Maybe try Transcend? Their DDR1 memory had good reviews with the singlecore Turions.

I'm not familiar with g.skill. I had considered buying Transcend before but stuck with Crucial when their prices became more reasonable. I'm afraid someone is just going to have to pick something, test it with MemTest86+ and report back to the rest of us.

unfortunatly, no. I don't even have the computer quite yet... it is still in production so i should see it within 2 week. I will be doing a full review for NBR and i will try to remember to put that information in there, or pry earlier in this forum.

I have one of these machines on order and also plan to upgrade the memory. Did anyone figure out if the 667 is supported?

Also, are both slots user accessible without removing the keyboard? I'm not sure I'm up to that challenge...

The Intel chipset found in the dv2000t officially supports it, but HP may have crippled it like they did with the zv6000 (socket 939 which supports dual channel) only supporting single channel memory.

On a dv2000t with an Intel Dual Core T2300e, 2 sticks of Patriot 1GB PC2 5300 RAM was installed (for a total of 2GB). It did register as 667MHz. (CPU-Z was used to check this.)

Thanks for the report! Now are both memory slots easily accessible or is one under the keyboard?

Both are very easily accessible. Although I felt the access bay were a bit cramped but still not too uncomfortable.

    Has anyone verified if DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) works in then dv2000 z model (AMD X2) yet?

Any word on if DDR2-667 works on dv2000z (AMD)?

Sure it does. My system(V3000Z) has been running 2GB DDR2 667 since March.

Thanks miner! Do you happen to know if PNY Optima memory will work? There is a similar thread (for the dv2000t) http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165856 that claims the same memory I bought today runs at 533 instead of 667, so I'm a bit wary. I don't want to open the package and lose 15% of the value from Best Buy ;)

PS. Even if it does work, might it be slower than the OEM Samsung modules? The PNY memory is 16x 64 MB modules rather than the standard(?) 8x 128 MB.

Looks like the other poster in that thread has a Core Duo T2450 processor with a FSB of 533MHz which is what limited his memory speed to 533MHz. This is totally a non issue on your system or any current gen AMD based system for that matter since the memory controller is located on the cpu itself and connects directly with the RAM. The memory configuration on the RAM wont make any difference. I havent had any experience with PNY but my V3000z is currently running 1GB Crucial and 1GB Gskill DDR2 667 memory without any issues.

BTW, you are not losing much with 533MHz RAM either. The difference is negligible between 533 and 667 DDR2 memory for daily usage. The difference will only be noticable in benchmarks. I wouldt really worry too much about it.

I tried 667 in my dv2000z under XP and my system would frequently crash after running for about 45 min. Swapped to 533 and the crashes disappeared.

I think that the 6100 chipset just can't handle the extra speed without better cooling. The standard thermal pad isn't capable of moving heat away from the northbridge / GPU and it eventually gets too hot and starts throwing errors. The dv2000 form factor as shipped from HP just can't move heat effectively enough to run at higher speeds. You could fiddle with it if you like, but that's a choice you have to make.

Are you sure it wasnt the RAM. I have been running DDR2 667 memory on my V3000Z(Compaq version ofthe dv2000z) perfectly stable for months now. Plus HP sold these models with DDR2 667 memory stock.
