Has anyone ever replace the hard drive for the HP DM3z laptop. I wanted to replace the 250GB hard drive with a 500GB hard drive. I first made a set of recovery disks, did a complete back up of the configuration, then I installed the new 500GB hard drive.
After installing the 500GB hard drive, I attempted to restore Windows 7 OS to the new hard drive using the set of recovery disks. After I completed reinstalling the recovery disk, the program instructed me to remove the disk and restart the laptop. I tried doing that, but then it would tell me that it could not find a bootable disk. I thought that it after reinstalling the recovery disks, I should be able to boot the laptop from the new hard drive. Am I doing something wrong?

I should mention that I was also using an external CD-ROM drive by way of a USB connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are having the issue because you are trying to use recovery disks that are made for a 250gb hdd with a 500gb hdd, you will have to do a fresh install with a larger drive.
