I just got a HP DM3T and so far it is great, except for one thing. For some reason when on battery power the brightness seems to randomly darken (not turn off) and then it will lighten back up when I go to a different program or page. I am sure this is some sort of power saving feature but it is driving me crazy. Is there any way to disable this feature so when on battery the screen stays the same brightness? I apologize if this issue has been covered already, I must not be searching with the right terms. . .

    Thanks in advance!

Windows 7 provides the ability to have the screen dim over a certain amount of time of inactivity. I think by default, dimming is used in place of a screensaver. You can change the setting in Power Options.

To get there, press the Windows key, type "dim" and choose "Adjust screen brightness." Then choose "Change plan settings" for the profile you're using. You'll find the display settings there.

Thanks Dynamius but I had changed all those setting. I did actually find the issue. It is in the intel driver. If you go the graphic properties, display settings, power settings and changed it from custom (who know what HP set it to) and disable it and that fixed the issue.

Just got a new machine and was having this same issue.

I suspected it was HP's custom power scheme, but haven't had a chance to change it yet.

    Thanks for posting your solution!

I just got my DM3t, and am having the same random dimming issue. It is driving me mad. Where is the graphics properties folder located?? I feel like I have exhausted my options and this must be a setting that can be changed, I hope you can suggest something I haven't tried.
