    Hello everybody! :)

First of all, I'm from Uruguay and here laptops are expensive. I've been looking at U.S. prices and almost cried. :(

Okay, here's the thing: I'm thinking of buying one of these laptops and want your opinions.

Here are some of the specs:

    HP Pavilion DM4T-1100
    • Intel Core i5-430M processor 2.26GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53 GHz
    • 4GB RAM DDR3 (8GB max)
    • 500GB (7200 RPM)
    • 14.0” diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768)
[*] Intel HD Graphics with up to 1696MB total graphics memory
      [*] Bluetooth
    • 6-cell battery

    HP Pavilion DM4-1063 (Refurbished)
    • Intel Core i5-430M processor 2.26GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53 GHz
    • 4GB RAM DDR3 (8GB max)
    • 500GB (7200 RPM)
    • 14.0” diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768)
[*] ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450s
      [*] No Bluetooth
    • 6-cell battery

I'm a Computer Engeneering student so I'd use it for daily tasks (browsing, mailing, etc.), programming and also for watching HD movies.
I'm not sure if Intel's HD Graphics would suit my needs (I don't play games). Bluetooth is handy but not important.

    Both cost USD 1199

    What do you think?

The Intel HD would suit your computer habit very well.

New one... I prefer the bluetooth over the ATI card. Yet, the ATI card is nice to have, but I rather have a new one with Bluetooth over a refurbished.

I'd go for the ATI. I've had an i5-450m (2.4-2.66 GHz) with no ATI and for some reason it lags when I watch standard definition Flash videos (Megavideo) unless I full screen it. Also, when it hangs I hear this weird noise if music is playing. This is on a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro x64.

intel hd doesn't lag at all, it runs it really well.
Even the intel x3100 gma runs 1080p well.

Heck I like my intel hd more than my ati. :)

For movies yes, but for some reason SD Flash videos on sites like Megavideo (trying watching Top Gear not full screen) it stutters.

Sounds like an issue with flash, an i5 could run 1080p flash on its own
