anyone out there can enlighten me with some things about some problems i encountered with my NEW HP DV6000t series notebook
1)2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo....windows my computer/properties say its 2.0ghz...but...it is only 991mhz++ when i check it with cpu-z or pc wizard even if it is at power option HOME/DESKTOP...?????why is this possible...is there something wrong with my cpu???
2)1024 mb DDR2 Memory (2x512)...they say its 533mhz bus speed...but when i check it again with cpu-z or pc wizard or si-soft sandra, it just say 333mhz,but the retailers say that the memory has a sticker of 533mhz on it so they persist it to be 533mhz and that there is something wrong with the software diagnostics i have ...they say!what is right then????
3)pc recovery does not finish or complete burns the dvd (2nos) and when i try to check the disk there is no data on it,tried burning a copy of a game dvd to another blank dvd usiong sonic...the burn process finished but when i put in the dvd nothing in it???somehting defective with the dvd writting????

I KINDLY & DESPERATELY CALL ON ANY GENIUS COMPUTER PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP ME ENLIGHTEN MY PROBLEMS
    THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE

    1) The CPU downclocks when all the power is needed. You're fine. Try "Always ON" power scheme to see the 2.0 GHz.
    2) 333MHz at DDR 2 is effectively 667MHz. Nothing wrong there.
    3) Use DVD +R or CD -R. RW discs will not work when burning the Recovery CD/DVDs. That might help also.
    4) Market schemes...Intel didn't change the sticker.
    5) When you buy a new one, it is new. HP isn't dumb enough to rip people off THAT much.

OH TNX very much 4 D INFO

1)about the dvd's u mean 2 say dat there cud be some incompatibility with some dvd+r or dvd -R with the dvd drive of this unit, its the first time ive encountered that with burning dvds, and iv been using the same discs as before with my other previous laptops...hhmmmm?shouldn't it be compatible with almost any blank dvdr's

2)for the cpu stepping frequency so its normal for it to be still stepping up-or down even if i choose Home/Desktop option for the power scheme, shouldn't it be running consistently at the highest speed when i select that option...(other laptops are not like that, but its pentium-m only i experienced it before with my previous laptop)...so core 2 duo does this, persistently stepping up-or down regrdless u want it at max speed???

also how come when its at max speed according to cpu-z & pc wizard realtime clock speed indicator. the highest it gets is only 1995.7ish only not the full 2000.12ish kinda reading(like before with my older notebooks)

3)so how does 533mhz ddr2 should read when u use cpu-z or pc wizard...266.5mhz.....so its safe to say that when some diagnostic programs read the memory bus speed they will only read its divided figures only...evrytime???

anyways sorry for the more questions but appreciate the help a lot

    cheers!

Try setting it to 'always on'. That should set your processor to run at full speed. Different manufacturers set different power management settings. So it might not be the same for each machine.

This is quite normal as well. The frequency varies a bit and you will find differences between 2 similar processors. It is mostly due to nature of the crystals which are used for generating the clock frequencies.

Not necessarily, some do some dont some list both. In any case any memory sold in the market today are DDR, so they will have clock speeds which are half of the rated frequency.

You're very likely to assemble the same list of problems with a new laptop, should you insist on returning your current one, which is fine. Listen to Miner, for he knows of what he speaks...

can i post a general question here in this thread???

well iam wondering,in the future, when 2.4-2.5ghz and so on laptop cpu's become available, can i upgrade my existing laptop..which is 2.oghz core 2 duo at the moment to those higher core 2 duo clock speeds,is it even possible to do that,or it is true that you can't upgrade a laptop(period).
and does that go with the video card also???
how come its so hard or nearly impossible to upgrade a laptop...anyone????
wouldn't that be a great thing that laptops can be easily be upgradeable????

    well just a tought though!

    cheers

That is probably out of the question since Intel is already looking ahead to release a newer socket & chipset, so any new future processor is going to be based on that. So your upgradability options might be limited to the current highest Core 2 Duo - T7600.

Video cards used on notebooks are propetitary or are directly integrated on the motherboard. There is no standardization(there are several reasons for this) as seen in desktops, so in 99% of all notebooks they cannot be upgraded. See the graphics section of the forum for more information.

Laptops are all tightly integrated systems, Every component is designed for an individual/specific laptop plus they(in most cases) dont have enough space to make stuff upgradable.
