My laptop started to make a static /crackling sound. This sound is not loud and comes from the speakers. I notice it as a web page is loading. It makes the sound once as a page is loading. Not everytime maybe one out of three pages. However it could do it 3 pages in a row.

    Anyone else have this problem?

My dv6500t has the same problem when running on battery. Check out these threads for more info:

Since then HP came out with a new Realtek Audio Driver (6.0.1.5548 A) that supports Vista SP1. I installed it but it didn't fix the popping problem.

My notebook is only a few months old. I installed SP 1 as soon as it became available, like a month ago. It has been working well. I think the static sound began a few days ago when I updated the bios from 45 to the 51.

I rolled back the driver, then had no sound. I then uninstalled the sound device and rebooted. Vista then intalled the sound device along with the latest driver. Everything seem to be well again, no static sounds!

    Thank you seasalt29 :)
