    Hello.
Since now I used latops with Infrared built in to use my cellular phones to get connected and store/convert PMI and SMS.

Now that I have DV1000 series laptop I have a laptop with Infrared... BUT... only usable for the remote!

    That's kinda strange isn't it?
Why they placed IRDA ONLY for the remote controll??

There is any way to enable it to be used by other hardware?

    Thank You
    Regards

    Cixi from Tuscany (Italy)

It's not a standard IRDA port though...it's simply meant to recieve the signals from the remote....same idea as your TV. Not every remote will work with it (unless it's a universal remote and you first program the remote with the proper code)
