DV1000: can anyone confirm pioneer slot dvd works? (or any other burner upgrade?)

Or any other DVD burner upgrade for that matter? I ordered my DV1000 without a cd or dvd burner thinking I could easily upgrade to a pioneer slot loader as I'd seen info about this in various posts. However, now that I'm looking for actual info, all I see is "yeah, that should work," or "no, it won't fit because of the bezel.

Cost isn't the real issue (not getting the burner saved $100 and I figure a slot loader will be around $100) -- I just wanted a slot loader. However, if it's going to be a hassle, I'll just place a new order and include the burner this time.

    Thanks

PS -- also checked the dv1000 forums and didn't find anything concrete

PPS --yell if you've got a favorite stick of RAM I should check out.
