Installed the new Win7 RC 64bit on my DV2-1030us last night. Was really fast and easy and everything seems to be working great... but in Device Manager, there is an "Unknown Device" with a yellow exclamation mark next to it.

Upon closer inspection it says that it's location is, "on ATi PCI Express (3GIO) Filter Driver". I have no idea what this is. My internet searches have taught little about what this actually is. I have found a few HP dirver downloads for this, but when trying to install them, it just says my system doesn't meet the requirements.

It doesn't seem to be affecting the performance of my system at all and it's not that big of a deal. I just don't like having yellow exclamations in my device manager.

Anyone know what this is and how fix to it?

Could be a webcam driver or a card reader driver. Usually something small.

Win7 picked up the webcam on its own and I installed the card reader driver.

I've installed all the drivers that HP has available for download.

If your laptop is functioning well and meeting your needs, it probably isn't even worth spending all the time hunting down what device it is. Have you tried finding Windows updates for the device?

I had a similar problem and have solved it. A similar problem, because I installed a beta driver from ATI for Windows 7, so in my case I knew it wasn't the graphic card. I also installed one driver from HP: touchpad driver (for Vista 64bit). That's it: I had no other drivers installed and everything was fine, except a single "unknown device".

My "unkown device" was identified as "ACPI\HPQ0004". If yours is the same, then there is a solution.
Turns out it is HP's 3D DriveGuard. I used the latest one from HP's web site for Vista x64 (for whatever reason they don't list it for dv2, so you need to find it for dv7, I think). And it works fine! Now Win7 identifies it as "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor" in "system devices".

UPDATE: I found the name of the driver that I used. It's sp39123 (.exe)
The driver was posted at NBR for dv5t, but worked fine for me.

Scroll down to the "HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive" and install the first and the second (newer) drivers.

    Awesome.

That was exactly it. No more yellow exclamations in my device manager. Thank you very much!
