    What type of video codec?

Hadn't had any problems with mpeg and h264.

With divx/xvid my dv2 was also very choppy until I broke down and installed the offical divx drivers. The divx drivers seem better optimized than the xvid ones - cpu usage dropped dramtically when I switched to them (100% -> 30%).

YouTube depends too much on Flash/internet performance.

Overclock your CPU.. only thing you can do.. if you open your notebook, you can get the PLL, you can use SetFSB to overclock... search on the forum and you'll find out a lot about OCing your CPU...
