This morning I turned on the notebook and the screen was in a freak out mode of haze/grain/off colors, does this in all modes of operation from POST/BIOS to Windows XP, so it's a hardware problem without question.
Contacting HPs technical support is an adventure in misery I wouldn't wish on anyone, I eventually communicated my problems in two phone calls (Due to them cutting me off the first time) that took 2:21 minutes in total. I'm SICK TO DEATH of INDIAN Tech support with agents that can't speak english let alone diagnose the problem. For me, I had this diagnosed before the call but was forced to go through their idiot-proofing TWICE.
Additionally, Registering your notebook or probably any hardware with HP when you buy it seems not to matter a rat's ass as tech support had NONE of that information on hand when I called them. Double checking HPs support site, it indeed DOES show me and my notebook, serial number and all, but the reps don't get that information for some reason. They DO though have the information that I have 199 days left on factory warranty, that's great information to know IF it were accurate. It isn't. Today is December 30th, I bought the laptop on November 10th, their records show I bought it on July 17th. NICE. So now I have to FAX all this information to them along with about 10 other pieces of information to have the warranty show the correct date of purchase.
As of TODAY, I'm done with HP, there might be no other manufacturer out there that does any better, but HP has lost me for good and for an individual I have a TON of HP equipment in my possession.
Otherwise, anyone else have this kind of problem with their dv2000? This is an SEC screen, which I hear is also the bottom rung of quality when it comes to the variety of screens they use on the dv2000 series.
Thanks for any input!

Does that help?

As far as the screens, SEC is the worse. But HP will replace them if you call in and say that you are having problems with it. SEC ~ samsung and there screens are a bit darker and muddled looking also with many flaws. They would send you guys a brown box to ship back to them and process will take 1-3 weeks unless you guys bought the extended service.
