I recently bought a new PCMCIA sound card for my dv2000 but when I tried to insert it, I realised that there was some kind of holder for the remote control that came with it, that was preventing it from being inserted fully. I'm just wondering is it possible to remove this holder so that it is just a normal PCMCIA slot. if so is it difficult?

    Hello and welcome.

I am so sorry to tell you, but that PCMCIA card will not work, because the slot isnt PCMCIA, its ExpressCard54. So it wont work. And before you ask, there is no ExpressCard to PCMCIA adapter. I would recommend that you return it asap.

The dv2000 does not feature a PCMCIA slot.

The slot you are referring to is an ExpressCard 54 slot.

    Edit:

    NetBrakr beat me to it.

Thanks guys, thats what I thought too, but I emailed HP and they assured me it was a PCMCIA compatible slot.

That clears that up anyway, I'll return the card asap.

HP said it was PCMCIA compatible? (sigh) They need to train those techs better.

Wow, that's really sad about HP telling you it was PCMCIA... That's what you get from lackluster training and outsourced (third-party US or abroad) support. Morons.
