When I first ordered my DV2000z in July, I tried to upgrade the RAM right away. I bought 2 sticks of 1Gb RAM of each of these brands. The G.Skill did not work, my computer would boot to OS and then restart after about 30 seconds. I used Neweggs wonderful return policy to pick up some OCZ RAM. With the OCZ the computer could just barely load windows before restarting.

I left a post on OCZ's forum about the issue and a tech said that some manufacturers do something to make the end user use their brand RAM. Well, after 6 months, I hope someone figured it out.

What RAM have people used to upgrade their laptops (beside HP's)?

I used Samsung RAM in my dv1000, and it worked with no problem.
