    Hi,

I just took a DV2000 Notebook and I see that the SATA hard drive is getting very hot. Thinking that its a HDD problem, I replaced the drive and still I find the same problem.

I check another laptop with AMD processor and found that the HDD on that laptop is also getting hot. I checked the Presario version of the same laptop V3000 and that also has the same issue.

I am not sure whether the SATA Hdd by default generates the heat or is it the laptop chipset or something of that sort?

    Please help.

    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Bency

    bencyp,
What app are you running that makes your HDD so hot? And what is the Temp at the bottom? My V3000z HDD only went kinda warm/hot(42C as measured right below the HDD) after I ran 2 hrs Prime95 test. I use large mode and run HDD a lot during the test. I didn't put the it on my lap, but I think I can take 40+C on my lap.

Well, regarding the heat issue...check out the Cooling Guide for a few tips on getting that thing a little cooler. A Cooling Pad is always a good idea!

BTW, how hot is "hot?" Check out Notebook Hardware Control or Everest Home Edition to get info on those temperatures.
