** I changed the post title to be more specific to what I think the issue now is..

This is my issue - When I launch IE or netscape and type www.yahoo.com in address the status bar IE states web site found but no page is ever displayed?

Got new harddrive from HP warranty,re-installed from the recovery DVD's originally created when I got the DV2K (burned from HP utility). All appears to be Ok - accpet I cannot access any website using IE or Netscape.

Details - I have good IP connection to www via LINKSYS Wr54g and I can go cmd window and ping sites OK (example ping www.yahoo.com and it resolves to numeric IP and I get a ping reponse).

This is what I have tried with no success - Second restore from DVD's = same issue. Uninstall bundled norton = same issue. check settings in IE inetrnet options connections-automatically detect settings = same issue.
Windows firewall - off = same issue.

I have tried the HP tech support route and Abu (probably name of any tech support person at HP 800#, just being honest) is not very helpful, but very polite. I have called the HP 800 techsupport # so many times and have been run in circle over some poor overseas phone connection - that I can not bear to waste any more time with them.. Any ideas are greatly appreciated..

I recently had the same thing happen to me after installing a new hard drive on my thinkpad. I called Time Warner, and we tried everything you have done so far, and eventually had to renew or refresh my tcp/ip address using the system command prompts I think?- Im not real techie so I am trying to recall from memory.
You might want to call your internet provider and see if they can help.

Hi all - (and thanks for the reply mmk)
I think I am on getting closer.. It appears that the image from recovery DVD's is not exactly what came from the factory in China. I think the issue is with my BELLWOUTH WESTELL A90-210030-04 (used in path through mode) and the INTEL 3945ABG internal NIC on the DV2000T. This is my setup LINKSYS WRT54GL (wireless) into a LINKSYS BEFSX41 (DHCP server) and this connects via PPOE to the WESTELL that is in pass through mode and on to BELLSOUTH. All I can really state for sure - it worked with the same set up prior to the restore and now Abu (HP tech support) is telling me I need to upgrade my ISP equipment WESTELL modem to resolve..

So to restate - does anyone have any info on issue with WESTELL A90 in passthrough mode via a LINKSYS and a INTEL 3495BG on a DV2000T.

By the way - i have a DV1000 and a compaq EVO 8000c on the same network (hardware) with no problems.. and the DV2000 had no issue until the recovery...

The same issue happened to me after I reformatted my hard drive. After I installed drivers from HP's website, the problems went away.

Just an update >>So far no luck - I have restored from new recovery disks provided by HP.. tried every version of the Inetl/Pro wireless drivers available for download at HP and no sucess.. I can ping outbound, I can log into both the Linksys 54g and BEFSX41 using the wireless connection, but once I try and use a browser IE or netscape for outside hosts no response. Another anomoly is a TRACERT command from the DV2000 makes the LINKSYS 54G reset.. I am trying the the INTEL PRO SET now and will post my results..

No luck with INTEL PRO Wireless... just to recap >> I can always connect to 54g , I can get DHCP'd from the BEFSX41, I can see the DV2000T in the DHCP client table on BEFSX41. I pulled some files off another local PC, I accessed an external share via VPN (tunnel in BEFSX41). Just can not get the browser to load a page.. I have flipped every switch IE, even had the wife wave a dead chicken over all hardware and ask the gods fro mercy.. no web pages but all other IP stuff looks good.. if this ever get's resolved. I will post the resolution to help the next poor soul.. that has try to resolve this issue..
