What the heck is wrong with HP and their confusing usage of their numbering system?

I ordered a DV2700t in Feb. Of course like all HPs the actual computer monitor says "DV2000". But the bottom of the laptop says "DV2700t", BUT I just registered my laptop with HP and it says this

What the heck is going on?

It says dv2000 on the screen because its part of the dv2000 series which is dv2000,2500,2700+ . Pretty much higher the number, the more recent the model is.

It should say dv27xx (eg dv2673tx for mine) on the bottom of the laptop. This is the exact model number. Different spec/configurations will have different numbers.

Its nothing to worry about, aslong as you got the exact specs you ordered. HP makes it a little confusing
