    Hello guys,
I have been having trouble with my dv2018tx. First, when I play Battle for Middle Earth 2, the game freezes at the end of each game with repeating sound. Does any other dv2000tx user encounter this problem? My audio chipset is Waikiki. Second, after upgrading to Vista, whenever I play DVD in full screen mode using WMP 11, the video lags, but not in windows mode. My graphics card is Nvidia 7200.

If anyone can answer my questions or give me some suggestions, I would be really thankful!

    Eddie

This certainly is a strange problem. It's most likely your video card drivers. I would try unstalling them, then installing the newest available for your go 7200. See if that makes any difference.

Is your video shared memory set to 128MB in the bios?

Adjusting the system to Adjust for Best Performance will help.

Also, what is your system memory? If you can I'd upgrade to 2gigs.

Also if you right click on the desktop and go to NVidia Control Panel, I would adjust the 3-D settings and turn off certain things.

I had this problem with X-Men and once I made these changes, it played with pretty good graphics.

    A defrag will help too.

I have this problem most of the time, even when playing music only. The sound at one time point repeated itself.
I have had this kind of problem since the very beginning I own my dv6000t, and thought that it's driver issue. However, I have formated and installed fresh XP as well as using recovery DVDs, the problem still exists. Even worse, the duration of the "hang" is getting longer over time, and once I had to turn off the computer by hand (press and hold power button).
I doubt that it's not the video card, but the hard drive that causes the problem, and I'm gonna have HP replaced the HDD.
As for the lag in WMP11 in Vista, try to get the codec on www.wmplugins.com . I mostly like to recommend Dvix and Xvid (install both of them).
