    I'm deciding whether to keep mine or not so here we go.

    Please state;

    CPU
    OS
    Ram size
    Hard drive make and model
    Time in seconds from when you press the power button until you see desktop.
    Here is a screen shot of hd tach (freeware, just to get an idea of read times)

    Wouldn't start times depend on what you have loaded? Not a really valid measurement.

    Yes, definitely. Ideally, this would be with a fresh install but seeing that many people have just ordered and received their c2d recently and would do a new install anyway, it would generally be the case. I just wanted to get an idea of how fast everyone's machines are, thats all. Cheers!

    Too late for me, i already installed SQL server 2000 and 2005 on my machine, it has slowed down some - but still the fastest start up I have ever seen.

    It would be interesting to see the results you get, good luck.
