My DV2000T with the Core 2 Duo was shipped today (09/11). I can't wait to receive it. I hope this is the last laptop I'll be receiving from HP for a while (I've already returned two laptops). :)
Has anybody already received their DV2000T with the Core 2 Duo? or am I going to be the first one? :D

Yeah, I've chatted with HP a couple of times about it and they have no idea. HP is not doing so good in my book. I'm kicking myself for not buying off the shelf, but I really wanted Core 2 Duo!

LOL, well, I haven't called at all. When it gets here..it wll get here. If it doesn't get here, it is HP's responsibility to refund my money. No worry
But yeah, I wanted that C2D, so that's why I ordered online. Not much regret though.

    Hi guys,

I ordered mine and I am in the same boat. The order was shipped 9/7 and was stuck with this custom delay status since 9/8. I was even dumb enough to call FedEx to see what was going on there. What I didn't realized was the laptop was actually shipped directly from Kunshan, China. I thought the CN stands for Canada !?!?

Anyway, I think the delay is normal and is out of both HP and FedEx's control. I was never a big fan with FedEx but I hope it'll be alright.

Meanwhile, I am still trying to shop for my 2GB DDR2 memory & a 7200RPM Hard Drive replacement. So far, I think Newegg is still the front runner for these stuff. I will keep you guys posted on how my first experience with HP is like when I get the laptop.

Don't feel bad about not buying off the shelves. Having your laptop customized is priceless! ;) Cuz you get what you want!

    James

Sigh... I got my xb3000 Expansion Dock sitting here gathering dust. Come on Fed Ex...get it here!

Hey Abuser, let us know what you decide on the hard drive and memory, i might just follow suit.

I'm hoping to receive my laptop before the end of the week. It usually takes 3 days to receive the laptop once it is shipped (based on my previous 2 experiences with HP).
I'm sure you guys will receive yours within the next two days.

I ordered a dv8000 last month and it had a clearance delay too. But it only took 3 days (or 4 depending on how you count) to get from China to Florida if that's any help. Here's my Fedex tracking record to give you some idea of what to expect.

    Zany

Edit: (Forgot to mention: I used HP's Free shipping on this laptop.)

I guess I'm the same boat as everyone here. Core 2 Duo shipped on 9/7. Still stuck in clearance delay. Per Fedex, customs requested proper documentation from HP on 9/11. Per HP customer service, that would be an issue with China, and there's really no one to talk to to see if/when they are forwarding the proper documentation for all the systems shipped that day. But to the first poster, yours may well be one of the first to be received if ours stay stuck in customs much konger.

Mine shipped last week with a T7200 and it is also on Clearance Delay. I don't know what the crap is going on. It was supost to be delivered today but i guess it's not going to make it now unless i'm lucky. I called FedEx this morning and the lady said the system wouldn't be updated until tomorrow and they expected it to be delivered by tomorrow if it didn't make it today.

If it's significantly late, I'd be asking at least the standard $49.99 shipping fee to be deducted from the order total, even if the shipping was free.

I guess I'm a bit antsy b/c I've got a dv2000t coming (supposed to be shipped today, in fact) and I will NEED it by its estimated delivery date based on the 5-7 day shipping. HP, FedEx and I will have words if it's late to me.

If it doesn't come tomorrow i will be calling HP to get some sort of credit for it being delayed. I was going to send back the dv2000t i have now today as i had it scheduled to be picked up by FedEx but i had to call HP and have them reschedule for Thursday since my new dv2000t isn't here yet.

If the laptops are stuck in the U.S., I wonder what China has to do with it? In any case I hope they solve that soon. I feel for you guys.
I hope mine doesn't go through the same clearance issue.

Customs. Given that China is the largest producer of pirated and counterfeit material/products in the world, I'd assume that at least some tech shipments would be inspected at random. More likely though, if the word from HP earlier about the shipment not having proper accompanying paperwork to get it through customs is true, it's probably just sitting in quarantine until it all the necessary documentation arrives and the whole shipment is verified.

Heh, apparently you've not done much int'l shipping. U.S. Customs could care less who the shipment is coming from or who its going to. If they want to inspect or hold it, they will and nothing can stop them. And once there is an issue with a shipment like this(such as the paperwork for the shipment not being delivered by either FedEx or HP), Customs will happily quarantine that shipment until they are completely satsfied that everything is in order. This is generally not a quick process. A quickly resolved issue is a couple of days to a week. A not-so-quickly resolved issue would be a couple of months.

I also ordered a Merom dv2000t. It was supposed to ship today, but it hasn't yet. I'm getting really annoyed and impatient, but now that I know there's the potential for another delay down the road, I'm going to try to chill. Yeah, right.

No, I haven't done a lot of international shipping - just a regular Joe. Maybe you're some hotshot importer, more power to you.

It is frustrating that a company like HP can't handle regular paperwork - for something that should be automated, smooth. This is one of their primary businesses. Can't get the import paperwork straight? If there is a delay, it should be handled quickly. Simple phone call, fax, whatever. Then let us (customers) know what's going on.

Yes, they should but if they did that they would have to have a whole other department devoted to calling customers 24/7 and saying "we are sorry but US customs has decieded to hold your package, sorry for the delay. Here is a $30 coupon to use online. Have a nice day!"

When your working with the Federal Government companies like HP have no control over what they do even if HP has the right paper work and gives it to them.

As frustrated as I am to be without my new toy, I should be fair -- the original shipping date that HP promised me was Sept 12, and they said 5-7 day shipping. So I shouldn't be complaining until Sept 19th. Even given the Sept 7th ship date, 5-7 days isn't until the 14th.

But then they raised expectations by saying it would arrive today (fedex.com still says "Expected Delivery Sepetember 12th 10:30am, even though that's clearly not going to happen). It's not here, and I'm grumpy.

I sure there's a customer relations lesson in here somewhere :)

The fact that two different customs locations held these shipments somewhat disproves (to me at least) HP's claim that its all FedEx's fault, or that it's just a random delay. Obviously, HP (or whoever actually manufactures these notebooks in China) sent these notebooks out without the proper paperwork, leading to a fairly significant delay in all of us receiving our notebooks. They should most definitely be compensating us for this delay.

    Just my $0.02.

Hey bud, wasn't trying to show off or anything of the sort. I'm also just an average Joe, but I have dealt with Customs enough to know that things can and do get held up - sometimes for good reason, sometimes not.

I'm waiting on my own dv2000t as well. It was supposed to be shipped today(12th), but I still have yet to receive any shipping or tracking information from HP. And the wait goes on...

I ordered on mine with a T5600 and the Go 7200 on 9/1 and was given the original shipping date of 9/12. Shipped on 9/7 saying that it would arrive 9/12, which it didn't. No update yet on the Fedex site.

I ordered mine on 31st, shipped on 8th..and the latest update from Fedex

Sep 12, 2006 4:10 PM Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK

Estimated delivery remains Sep 13, 2006 10:30 AM
Now from Anchorage to Seattle is over 2200 miles. If Fedex air-cargo my dv2000t, it should be delivered as promised. If it is ground shipment, 36 hours of travel distance minimum.

Either way, if they deliver during the day, I am away at work, so no one is going to answer the door for me heh.

Just spoke with the FedEx IPD department -- the department that handles the shipment of HP's notebook line. They say they still haven't recevied the necessary documents from HP to pass on to customs for my notebook -- still stuck in Indianapolis. I'm thinking the new ASUS notebooks are looking better and better at this point.

By the way, the phone number for FedEx IP Direct is:
    1-800-455-4588
for anyone wanting to get directly through to someone who can tell you something.

Hey SZZZ, congratulations. It seems like you are oficially the first person to receive the DV2000T (w/C2D). :)

I, on the other hand, am receiving mine today. :) This is what my tracking number shows " On FedEx vehicle for delivery". Nobody will be home to receive it so I'll have to go after work to the FedEx warehouse to pick it up.
The laptop was shipped on monday 9/11 and was scheduled to be delivered on thursday 9/14 but somehow it's already here, one day ahead of schedule.

As for everybody whose laptops are still stuck on customs, I hope they solve that problem soon. Maybe you guys can get some discount coupons out of this whole mess.

Just got off the phone with HP, my dv2000t finally shipped out today, will arrive on Monday(barring any holdup from Customs).

In my talking with the rep, though, we talked a bit about the previously held up shipment (the one most of you are dealing with). He said that there was an issue with paperwork(no specifics), and also said that Customs had been temporarily quarantining nearly everything that came into the U.S. in the week leading up to 9/11 to be extra careful, and that I shouldn't expect the kind of delay that others have seen since mine is being shipped after 9/11. I'm thinking your laptops may have just been caught up in a much larger security operation.

Anywho, that's all I've got. Let the wait till Monday begin!

im having a feeling that i wasnt tld the truth by the representative....only bcuz i had called hp back bcuz i had not seen the updates on the tracking page...the guy told me that according to what he sees on his computer...the package is still stuck in customs...now i could just be thinking too much into it....but perhaps the fedex reps are trying to stop us from calling....just my 2 cents..
