Okay the only thing keeping me from buying a new dv2000t is the battery sticking out the bottom? So I ask is it worth it to get the 12 cell battery and have it stick out of the bottom propping up or just going with the less battery life of the 6 cell. How much battery life does each one get does anyone know?

I want/need as much battery life as possible and 4-5 hours would be a nice mark, but the 6 cell doesn't seem to be able to reach 4 according to the reviews I've found.

Can we assume that you'd like to actually use the computer while it's on battery power? :D

If you want anywhere near four hours, and you want to do anything more than stare at your pretty background picture, you'll have to go with the 12-cell.

The Washington Post actually had an article just today mentioning the battery life of the dv2000t. They had a best-case scenario that involved music playback, lowest screen brightness setting, and all power-saving options on. It came in somewhere under 2:50 (they weren't more specific than that).

Here's the article if you'd like to read it for yourself. It also addresses the trackpad problems that so many people have been having.

I kinda wished I had gotten the 12 cell. I like the way it props it up. Also it gives it extra ventalation. There $179 to buy. ouch!

If you need anything above 3hrs, then get the 12 cell battery. The 6 cell should be good enough for around 2.50 - 3.00hrs. The 12 cell will doubl that and you should be able to get ~5-6hrs.
