This is just a little note for anyone searching for dirt on the DV2000t. Not but 5 minutes ago the scroll bar area on my touchpad/trackpad stopped working. The area now works just like the rest of the trackpad, no up or down scroll capabilities anymore. I was just programming some Java and then all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. Then, just now, it started working again. That on top of it already being too rubbery and having some major logic issues, makes it the worst part of this laptop. Food for thought.

i once freak out when my touch pad didn't work only to find out that I unknowingly disabled some of its components using msconfig and system explorer in windows defender....

isnt the touchpad one of the most annoying part of the pavilion series
i acctually had the option to buy a dv5000 or a dv6000 at one point with same specs but i eventually went for the dv5000(on sig) due to the better touch pad in my opinion and the speakers being located in the front -
The speakers aren't a problem to me. The trackpad is really a let down though, I can't imagine how something so horrible made it through testing. HP's QA department should be fired, bunch of idiots.
Thankfully I went through Costco, so I'll return it in 2 months and learn from my mistakes: Better trackpad, no brightview, and BURN THE RECOVERY PARTITION*!!
* I reformatted the POS Vista install (can you say bloatware?) and now I realize that HP is comprised of *******s that don't make the drivers for Quickplay and the Webcam available.
Also, the volume control slider is a POS as well. It so slow to respond that it takes forever to get it to the correct level. It takes 1-3 seconds for it to register a change. And another thing about the ****ty trackpad, the edges don't even work (why couldn't they just make it smaller?). -
I too was messing with java when my scroll bar failed lol. A restart fixed it though.
The slickness is irritating but I got used to it overall.
As for the volume control, I just tap the ends. It goes up 2 each tap but meh better than trying to get it to detect how far I drag my finger across the volume. -
Are you guys referring to how it's not slick or saying it's too slick? When I was testing out the dv9000 in the stores, one of the features I disliked was the feel of the touchpad. It was less noticeable with my middle finger versus my pointy finger, but it definitely didn't glide across as smoothly as some other brands.

well in my opinion its a bit too plasticky but the option to turn off the touchpad is a welcome addition though
