    Hello all.

    I recently purchased a DV2000z CTO.

    specs:

    Turion X2 56 (1.8ghz/1MB cache)
    1.25 gb 667 ddr2 ram
    Windows XP Professional (edu version)
    40 gb HD.

    background:

As soon as i received my laptop, i made a backup of the swsetup folder.
Then I reformatted the harddrive and installed my own xp professional ed.
Installed all drivers without a hitch.
Couldnt be happier with the system.

    however.....

Due to the small size of my harddrive i decided to go ahead purchase
    a bigger one.
Hitachi has a 160gb sata for $119.00 which is a good deal IMO ---
so i went ahead and bought it.

    main problem:

When i try to install xp again it says that no harddisk was found.
I updated my bios from v F.13 to v F.22. Still it did not make a difference.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could point out any mistakes I am making.

Also let me know if you guys need any further info.

    Thank you

p.s. do you guys think 160 gb is compatible with my model(DV 2000z)?

Well i finally figured out what i was doing wrong.
There is a little bracket on the sata connector.

When one installs a new hd, all they have to do
is remove the bracket and plug it on the new HD.

Problem solved! ...........but of course you all knew that ;)

Since i was not doing that it wasn't getting any power
through to the HD and hence the "no hd found' error
    message.

    I feel like such a dumbo :D

But man it feels good. 160gb of goodness.

    goodnite all.
