Is there a big diff between the 1.66 Ghz AMD Turion 64 X2 and the Intel Duo Core 1.66? Bestbuy has the AMD for $1199 and the Intel for $1379.

The Core Duo notebook should get a bit better battery life, but the Turion X2 notebook is 64-bit capable and has a MUCH better (though still shared memory) GPU. Buy the dv2020.

Thanks for the quick reply..Yea I have heard that about the battery life with the X2's..How much of a difference is it though? 15 mins? Also i noticed the dv2020 has a slightly smaller hard drive at 80 GB, would it be posible to put a 120 GB in there on my own down the road? And as far as multitasking i.e downloading/converting movies and browsing which cpu would be ebtter suited?

If you have a costco membership, you can configure an hp dv200t/z through them. I made one with the top core 2 duo (t7200 2.0ghz) and the nvidia 7200, 1gb of ram, 80gb harddrive, dvd burner, wireless with bluetooth for $1248, plus theres $100 in coupons/rebates, so it would be $1148 for an awesome laptop, which has better specs.
you could also configure one from hp shopping, or through their EPP program for a similar price as costco, if not lower. -
I am in Canada and Costco.ca doesnt allow to configure HP systems neither does HP canada
which sucks

are the prices you posted on your first post in cnd or usd? -

Swapping in a new HD is trivial. Reloading the OS and whatnot can be tedious but that's par for the course with any computer.
Battery life comparisons between the TX2 and CD are tough because what you're doing will have a different impact on the two CPU types. And then there's fun things like varying battery wear levels (we used to be able to read the wear level with MobileMeter but that stopped working with the last two generations of HP notebooks). Call it 15 minutes more with the CD, give or take. If you really need battery life HP does make 12 cell batteries (8.8Ahr instead of 4.0Ahr) but I'm not sure what availability is like on your side of the border.
Anyone buying an Intel CPU should definitely buy one of the 4MB L2 cache C2D's as they're 64-bit capable (finally!) and Intel architecture is very cache dependent (no integrated memory controller, no HyperTransport). -
