I've just sorted a problem with the web cam on my DV2166. The web cam was not working, not listed properly in the Device Manger as a Imaging Device but showed up as an unknown USB device in the USB Controller Devices

The problem I have discovered is BIOS related. I had upgraded the BIOS to the latest level F22 in preparation of installing Vista (the latest BIOS level has Vista enhancements), tonight I reverted the BIOS back to previous level F13 and the web cam started working again! The web cam device is now listed properly as an Imaging Device and not as an unkown USB device. (BTW I an running with the HP Win XP preload).

If you have any web cam device problems it might be worth looking at the BIOS level.
