Recently got a new battery and no problem. A short while later won't power up. This is my fiance's machine and she said no warning before just won't start. Any ideas if the most likely problem is now the Power supply is shot?

Try taking out the battery and running just on AC power, does it turn on?
BTW, your notebook (edit: not battery) seems to be part of a "recall", or one of the affected laptops with a faulty motherboard.

RV324UA is the product number for your DV2315nr right? Its on HP's list, making it possible that the problem your having is not with the battery. -
Dont know why but can't get the battery out. Seems stuck tight. Can't slide the release slide either.
That is the right product number. Any idea if HP will doing anything with it since a recall, or too old now? -
They are giving out another year of warranty for affected units. How long have you had your notebook? I hope you'd still be covered and have your motherboard replaced for free. Do drop them a call.
