No the DV2530 doesnt support a WXGA+(1440x900). Its says at the bottom of the web page that it has a WXGA(1280x800) Screen resolution which is the max it can go. Its common for mainstream laptops.

Indeed it does, however I am questioning about external output to a monitor. For instance my packard hell easynote I am currently struggling to type on now has a maximum of 1024x768, however it can output up to 1900xsomething to a monitor (all be it conveniently not being able to handle 1440x900).

The max for the laptop is 1280x800 since that's what the video card can handle. The extenal monitor can only show what the video card is capable of.

    I output mine to a 20 inch 1600X1200 perfectly.

Its probably because you need to update your graphic card drivers or try 3rd party drivers to support the resolution.

There is a guide in the Gaming section of the forum that deals with updating graphic card drivers.

You may also need drivers for the external monitor.

No that not true. Its the max for the notebook LCD not an external one.

That definately doesn't explain the capabilities of my packard bell ;)

Duy028, can you check to see if you can use 1440x900 please?

edit: Thanks Kdawgca, I'll check that out. I made a poor attempt at looking before since I will be updating the laptop soon anyway (which is why I am so interested in the DV25XX)

It shows up, but everything looks all skinny on my 4:3. :D I'm using a plug and play monitor though so no drivers needed. I'm also using hacked drivers for my notebook's GPU which I downloaded from www.laptopvideo2go.com.

Ah OK so is your DV2500 configured with the dedicated graphics? (I think it's nVidea which is available on the HP website [although not to the UK....]).

Hmm...Dell told me to upgrade to a dedicated graphics on the M1330 if I wanted to output to 1440x900, could it be that all shared graphics will not handle it? (unless it is the laptops native resolution i guess)

My DV6500T has a maximum resolution of 1280x800, but my monitor can be set at 1280x1024.

    Hi,

Would just like to bring this topic back up again to check....I am planing on getting the dv2530ea which has the Intel GMA X3100 (shared) graphics...can this output to 1440x900 to an external monitor?

I feel silly asking again, but my dad has got a new laptop with a shared graphics and it will not output to 1440x900 (again the nearest it will do is 140x1050...). Can the HP do it? Is it a monitor problem why I can't use it at 1440x900 on the two laptops I have tried?

I own a dv2500t (customized to order) with shared graphics, and it outputs just fine to an external monitor that has a resolution of 1280x1024. I'm willing to bet that it will output to higher resolutions, too.

The 2500t should be able to handle your external monitor. The screen on the laptop is limited to 1280x800 but the graphics on the laptop (nvidia or intel) should be able to support an external monitor with 1440x900 resolution.

Modern integrated graphics should be able to handle 1440x900, no problem. My brothers old Gateway runs 1440x900 just fine, and it is Radeon 320M based (ATI's first chipset).

YOU WILL HAVE ZERO PROBLEMS with the 19' monitor.

I currently have a dv1000 model that is 3 years old, with its crappy and very crappy Intel graphics cards (most likely gets 50 points on 3dmark 06 :) ) I can use my 19" monitor without a single problem. The resolution is 1440*980 (or something like that).

    It works like a charm.

So with the new HP laptop you will have no problems at all.
