I used hdmi and connected my laptop to my sony bravia, Picture comes out great, but sound still comes out thru laptop, not thru TV speakers, any way to fix this?

The HDMI is video only if I recall correctly.

Coriolis, you recall incorrectly I'm afraid. HDMI is supposed to be the amazing-wonderful-catch all cable that allows audio, video and DRM through a single over-priced piece of wire. Sorry I can't help with your audio problems though - not got my machine yet so can't offer driver/setting etc advice.

Nono, HDMI does have audio and video, that I know, but not the one in the dv2500, rather in most notebooks.
Kinda worded it improperly, my bad. -

"Supposed to be". I've heard stories of several laptops having hdmi with no audio, including my very own G1s. I may be wrong, but only hdmi 1.3 carries audio, whereas 1.2 and lower does not. However, I have not had a chance to test it.

My DV2500t gives sound through the HDMI/TV just fine.
All you have to do is connect the cable and get picture coming through the TV, and then right click on your sound settings in the bottom right, next to your clock. Click on "Playback Devices" you should have an option for "SPDIF Interface".
Single left-click on it and underneath next to properties click on "Set Default".
Now close your Youtube, or browser, or music program or anything active that sends out sound and restart your youtube or whatever and you'll get sound through your TV.
Hope this helps. -
On a separate note, does anyone know if there's an auto detect (for sound) when I plug in the HDMI cable. I keep having to go through the sound settings and make the change manually. It's unfortunate because I do it way too often cause I'm always on the go.
