    Hi all,
I'm about to graduate and it's time to say goodbye to my NC4000. However, I'm still deciding between the DV2500t and the 6910p. About same configuration (T7500, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, fingerprint, bluetooth, DVDRW, etc.), the 6910p is about $1600USD from HP Website, while the DV2500t costs roughly$1300 at Costco. I wonder what make the difference in price? Is this the build quality or some other features? I found some basic features such as the webcam or the keyboard. Here's the template recommended by the admin
    ) What is your budget?

$1700 inlcuding delivery but the less the better :D

    2) What size notebook would you prefer

    Prefer a 13.3" but 14.1" will do.

    3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in.

I'm living in Australia but prefer buying from USA coz it's a rip-off here

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

HP is fine for me, no Dell. Still impressed with the level of service I got for my NC4000

    5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Mainly office work, web surfing, music, some DVD movies, and some intensive Financial program

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

A bit of both, prefer a docking station and take it out occasionally

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

    Not really, prefer my PS2

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

3-4 hours would be great for me coz my NC4000 last for 45mins

    9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

    I wouldnt mind

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

    Haha, Vista for sure.

    Screen Specifics

    11) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?

    WIdescreen

    12) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

Doesnt matter me as long as it's clear and crispy.

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

Have no ideas about these but love something like the Sony screen, anti-glare would be good coz I work mainly on computer

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

    110% agree

    15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

within a month, last for 2-3 years would be good

    Notebook Components

    16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 200GB?

    120-160GB

    17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?

    DVD-RW

One more thing, I'd love to have a docking station to connect all of my stuff to the lappy. Currently got the PR100 docking station for NC4000, however, wouldnt mind getting a new one.
The Quickdock for DV2500t does not provide a DVI out and while the Advanced docking station for 6910p provides virtually everything. Has anyone experienced these two dockings?

Besides, can we get a coupon that works on HP Business model? And do they offerea custom choice of webcam on the 6910p?

Sorry for the too many questions but I'm really serious getting one. And do you know if any of the seller ship overseas to Australia? Otherwise I can get my cousins in USA to send it to me but that would be complicated.

    Thanks all guys

If you prefer a dock with advanced features, the 6910 seems like the better choice. I have a dock for my R60. It works quite slick.

I assume the 6910p would also have a 3 year international warranty. That would be some justification for the price difference, along with all the business stuff that you get with it.
In my experience using the 6910p you'd be expecting around 3 hours, light use, but with minimum brightness, wireless on, using Vista with the dedicated graphics option. I think the 2500 would get around the same time.
The weight of the 6910p is less than the 2500, but probably not by much. The 6910p well built, and has a nice keyboard, dual pointing touchstick and touch pad.
Obviously the 6910p is less flashy, but still not ugly.
IIRC, the 2500 with the 8400gs has an hdmi port, which you could get an adapter for dvi, eliminating the need for the docking station (unless you need more).
The 6910p only has VGA out plus whats in the docking station.
Either way you're going to get a powerful notebook, so it comes down to price, warranty, duarability and port options for you.

The configuration of DV2500t above already included 12cell battery and 3 year warranty.
Is there any noticeable difference in performance between the dv2500t and 6910p?
I read a review on Cnnet on 6910p and they said its performance is lower than the dv2500 which is hardly to believe.

Take the reviews on Cnet with a grain of salt. They often compare notebooks with different specs, then say one's faster than the other.

If the core specs are the same then it really comes to either the flashier consumer-oriented model w/ associated media features, Vista Home Premium and a 1-year warranty vs the more subdued business class system w/ more productivity oriented features, Vista Business and a 3-year warranty. I don't believe there is a webcam option for the 6910p.

I'm typing on a 6910p right now and it's a nice notebook... very solid and quiet and battery life is decent for the standard 6-cell. I haven't used the dock options myself but I like the idea of the small QuickDock HP offers for their consumer products... too bad there's no DVI option.
