If someone could help me out I would be very grateful. I am running into an issue when hooking up a 22” HP LCD Display to my DV2550SE “Verve”.

I have the display hooked up directly to the VGA port. When the notebook is plugged the picture on the display flickers/small line movements. When I unplug the battery the picture is crystal clear. I guess it is inconsistent power caused by the notebook power supply, but I am not sure. I am guessing the power coming directly via the battery is more consistent, because the quality of the picture is perfect when running right off the battery.

I searched the forums, but did not see a solution and/or recommendation – so I apologize if I missed it.

I am wondering if the HP Quick Dock would solve the problem.

is the problem only on the external LCD? boot into safe mode and then hook up the lcd, then test.

have you considered connecting another lcd/crt to hook up and see whether it also happens to them?

Yes, thanks for the reply. I have no problems with the notebooks 14” display – it’s beautiful. Also, I don’t have any problems with the external LCD display when the notebook is not plugged in but running right off the battery. That is why I am thinking it is just that notebooks don't have the best power regular - or my LCD is just really sensitive to the signal since I am running right off the VGA.

I will run to my mother’s house to test it on another LCD – which is a good idea thanks.

For some reason this problem seems familiar to me. Scratch head.
