Does anyone have the issue where the laptop would randomly get stuck with the alt key on?
Its physically okay and up. Typically I notice the issue in firefox where it would think I am holding down the alt key. Usually I would notice the issue when I try to use the keyboard and menus start opening or the arrows or page up/down stops working. (I use that because the touchpad annoys the .... out of me still)

I have found pushing the alt key on the keyboard resolves the issue but I don't understand why this computer is tormenting me so much.

I googled it and found this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...5&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1847346&rule=941 so it is a known problem that exists, but I already updated my BIOS to the newest one they have (F.25). I have taken off my keyboard to detach and re-seat the keyboard ribbon and have not seen any difference.

 HP knows how to make their computers easy to use and running great out of the box.
Stock DV2700 > Removed 95% of preinstalled software > Replaced touchpad drivers with DV2500 drivers (preinstall ones did not have any palm detection or options that changed anything) > Updated ancient chipset/SATA drivers from late 2006 that came pre-installed with laptop > BIOS update > Vista SP1 (installed last night)

    Any ideas?

I suppose this means that I have a very problem with my laptop not commonly shared with others?

I still have the issue and it is not pleasant to have to occasionally hit the alt keys a few times to unlock them.
