Anyone know anything about the DV2745 Special edition..specs look nuts...

    AMD Turion 2 GHz, 3GB DDR2 Ram, 250GB hard drive - all for $1000

    I can't find reviews anywhere...

I don't think there's any reviews out there for this notebook. This specific model is a BestBuy exclusive, but if you look up HP Verve it should give you the review of the same laptop with a little bit lower specs (ex: 2GB ddr2 ram)

Here's the full specs on it if you haven't seen it already.

My parents just got me one of these after my Toshiba M45-S165 suddenly shut off. The 3GB DDR2 really attracted me because I do a lot of audio, video, and photo editing aside from my normal college activities.

Here's a little mini review from me if it helps:

PROS: Nice elegant design throughout the laptop, doesn't get too hot, built in webcam/mic, nice feel of the keyboard, slim and portable -around 4-5 lbs?-, LONG BATTERY LIFE! - I had it running about 4 hours on WiFi and doing an audio recording, LightScribe technology (Buy special CDs - Kinda cool if you like to label CDs), Excellent entertainment PC if you watch DVDs and like watching live TV (tuner sold seperately),

CONS: Mouse buttons take a little getting used to, AC plug is on the right side, Keyboard is noisy, Keypad is a little sensitive but you can adjust that yourself, prone to fingerprints with glossy exterior, This is more of a Vista related thing but the audio mixer is a little hard to switch around from Stereo to Microphone.

    ---------------------

This PC is packed with some of pre-installed software that can be useful to a video/photo editing person like Muvee, Windows Movie Maker, Windows DVD Maker, Cyberlink DVD Suite, CyberLink YouCam just to name a few. Comes with a couple complimentary subscriptions such as Vongo and the Sims Life Stories (playable up to 3 chapters).

This does run on Windows Vista Home Premium, so if you're a devout XP user, it might take an hour or so to get used to the whole interface.

With the exception of the audio mixer, I found no problems with this laptop so far. I play Counter-Strike here and there and I've switched from Counter-Strike to AOL Instant Messaging within seconds. (CS runs full screen and uses a significant amount of graphics, so that's pretty impressive).

Overall, this laptop can get the job done if you're a serious multi-tasker, a devout gamer, a graphic designer, or basically anyone who needs a laptop that can perform well.

Not Devout gamers. It's only an 8400gs not that great of a card. though I do have the DV6700Tse with the 8400gs, I find that it plays almsot every game smooth at decent settings but higher then that it wont go. But I do agree it's definitely a nice laptop!
