Hi guys sorry I am not sure if this kind of question against the forum rules or not.

I have A laptop with Core 2 Duo T5550 With 8400M GS video card

now I have heard horror problem with 8400M GS.. is it really something I should avoid?

I really like the performance. and I have GPU monitor from riva tuner. The GPU temperature have been gone up as high as 80 celcius one time when I run the GPU stress test.

will this laptop die eventually because of the infamous 8400M GS? should I keep an eye on the GPU temp all the time to avoid future problem?

    what's your take?

    thank you
oh btw I paid $600 for it .. it is a demo unit

Now that you have it,there's no point regretting...But you should have been on the safer side....For $600,it is a Decent deal. When did you make the purchase?
Yes,those GPU's from Nvidia are prone to failure at one point...

You have the chance then, PLEASE GO GO GO! Right now! :D..I think you can get better laptops at that rate recently. I actually thought your laptop was quite old and you had no chance of returning it!

Ive had mine for a year now. Just make sure it doesnt exceed 85c

You might be able to get something better for $600 though, depending on where you live.
