I just bought a DV3 yesterday and it came with a P7350 CPU. I was wondering/planning a CPU upgrade in the future. But Im not sure which CPUs this notebook supports. The current one is a Penryn with 1066 MHz FSB. So does that mean any Penryn CPU with 1066 FSB ? Even the Quad Cores ? Theoretically thats is. Since I know the thermal envelope is too big for this laptops cooling.

Thanks in advance for any help !

Theoretically its compatible with any 1066Mhz Core2, but a Quad Cores have a higher TDP which means that they won't work in it.

Well, the bios might not support the quad cores either. That's typically the stumbling block on most laptops.

Yeah I figured. But Im wondering since the current cpu in the notebook has a 25 watt TDP, and the T9800 (fastest dual core penryn) has a 35 watt TDP. Is that bad ? Should I get an P9600 instead (25 watt TDP) ?
