Hi, I've been looking for a laptop for college for months now. I've been set on many different systems (sager np7350 then scared from reseller issues, m1330 then not because of heat/mobo issues ive read about), but now I'm looking hard at the dv3t. What do you guys think about it because I can't find really any info on it.

Can i use a SATAII SSD? (the hp site says it uses sataI)
    Any heat issues?
    Battery life? (getting integrated graphics)
    Noisy fan?
What exactly is the infinity screen and is it worth getting?
Anything I should know about it?

Thanks. I would really appreciate any suggestions here.

I'm also looking at the dv3 and while I don't have the answers to all your questions I do know that other posters have written that upgrading to the processor that starts with a 'P' (I forget the full number, I think it's a $150 upgrade) really helps with heat and/or power issues because that model processor runs much cooler (so the fan is not required to operate as much, saving battery power).

Also if you're looking at a 64-bit version of Windows you need 4GB of RAM, for a couple weeks last month they did a special where the free upgrade was to 4 rather than 3GB (the current offer). (I'm thinking about calling them up and asking if they would retroactively offer me the 4 if I order right there and then over the phone).

P.S. I'm interested in your SSD choice, is it that easy to swap out a new HD? (what do you do with the original one, can you sell it on ebay?)

yeah it's a simple swap. You can make your extra hdd into an external one.
