I was just searching around here and can't really find much feedback regarding the DV3z model on HP.com's website. I've seen a thread regarding the DV3 that best buy sells with an intel processor (their "blue series" or whatever) but haven't seen much regarding the AMD version HP sells direct.

Are there owners of it on here? If so what are your general impressions? A good buy? OK w/ battery, heat, noise, etc?

The dv3 is based off the same build as the dv4 and dv5. They both have great build quality, so, the same about the dv3. If anything there would be less chassis flex because of the smaller size. Any anyway, even in the dv5 and dv7 there almost none. They look good too, but they are durable and have good build quality. It nay not be as durable as a Thinkpad, but it isnt toofar off.

@OP: Cant really help too much. I can tell you the build quality is pretty good, and that it may heat up a little, mainly because of the AMD CPU. An Intel version should be better. ;)

Hmm the intel version though will run me about $250-300 more. Like 650 vs. 900. Is it worth it? May bite at it this week.

Also i know it varies obviously, but how long typically are HP coupon codes good for? I would like to wait til the end of the month but the coupon code i found just kicked off today, and i'm worried it wont still be going on at the end of the month.

I've used a dv3z a little here and there at work. The LED screen is beautiful, but the fan runs like a turbine almost all the time...those AMD's put out some heat in a little package. Still a nice laptop tho.

I dont know. Depends on how much money you have to spend. Personally, i wouls save it up. But an AMD isnt bad either, you can always get a Cooler. ;)

Better integrated graphics on the AMD side. The biggest problem is that HP doesn't engineer very good cooling systems for any of their notebooks, AMD or Intel. I'm still happy with my dv4z.

I wouldn't say all. The new line, yes, it could be much better. But my dv9700t has an excellent cooling system. All my temps are always low. ;)

Here and gone. Looks like the DV3z has already been replaced by the DV2. I hear it still runs warm.
