    Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion dv4 and the battery is just about toast. I was looking online at the HP web site for a replacement but the reviews show the batteries are anemic at best!

    6-cell:

    12-cell:
    HP 12-cell Extended-Life Battery (EV12) | HP® Official Store

I think it's pretty clear that this battery is just not well engineered. My question is, would a 3rd party battery be a better option? From the looks of it, the official battery doesn't last very long. In fact, mine only managed 135 cycles:

Are there any available substitutes? Or am I going to have to try my luck with the official HP battery?

    Thanks!

Nobody has experienced poor battery performance?

I'm really hesitant to buy the HP battery. Based on the reviews, it sounds like I'm buying a piece of junk that will just die in 8 months.

I would really like a 3rd party battery, but if those aren't any better, then I guess why bother.
