    Let see....
    I searched on DV4 and 8/10 has 0 response.

    Let me try this.

My DV4 turns on with battery, not adapter.
Plug adapter in, charging led comes on both front and side port.
    but it's not really charging.

I don't think it's the power jack cable but just want to rule it out so ordered one.

What I want to know is what are the cables label?
    Black - ground
    Red - + power
Orange - ? what should be volt
    other 2 for LED.

Story: Bought this looking new through CL for $50 in it's own box and all. Owner said Geek squad told her Motherboard is fried. Don't they always say that?
    1. check the power jack port see if any solder joint loose, none. Measure voltage. All seem good, just that the orange cable get weak voltage compare to the red cable.
    2. I realized it uses the same battery and power jack as my wife's CQ60.
    3. Tried booting up with my new battery from CQ60 and voala!
    4. Plug in the ac adapter, everything just turn off. Must reseat cmos and main battery, else wont' turn back on.
    5. Now, the true faulty is the charger itself. How much damaged has it done to the motherboard is the question.
    6. Plug in my CQ60 adapter and charging LED came on. I thought I was in heaven until it shut down on me (battery drained)
    7. Also found 2nd DDR2 Slot is faulty, will not boot if inserted.
    8. Ordered $5 power jack cable.

    We'll see.......
